Mobile Golf Simulator Space Requirements: How Much Room Do You Need?
One of the first questions we get when someone is considering Greenies Mobile Golf is pretty simple:
“Will it fit at our event?”
In most cases, the answer is yes — but the amount of space you need depends on which Greenies experience you’re considering.
Our Mobile Golf Trailer and Inflatable Golf Simulator have very different setup requirements. We’ve brought mobile golf to corporate events, schools, breweries, festivals, private parties, golf outings and other venues throughout Greater Cincinnati, and we’ve learned that dimensions are only part of the equation.
You also need to think about access, ceiling height, level ground, guest flow and whether the event is indoors or outdoors.
Here’s what to consider before booking.
Quick Answer: How Much Space Does a Mobile Golf Simulator Need?
For Greenies Mobile Golf, our two setups require approximately:
| Greenies Experience | Space Needed |
|---|---|
| Inflatable Golf Simulator | Approximately 12′ wide × 16′ deep × 10′ high |
| Mobile Golf Trailer | Approximately 22′ long × 16′ wide when open |
The inflatable is generally the better option when space or access is limited, especially indoors.
The Mobile Golf Trailer requires more room and vehicle access, but it creates a larger event presence and works especially well for outdoor events.
Not sure which setup makes sense? Our [Trailer vs. Inflatable Golf Simulator guide] compares the two in detail.
How Much Space Does the Inflatable Golf Simulator Need?
Our Inflatable Golf Simulator requires approximately 12 feet of width, 16 feet of depth and 10 feet of height.
That makes it our most flexible setup.
We’ve been able to use the inflatable in places where bringing in a trailer simply wouldn’t be practical, including indoor event spaces and school gyms.
Don’t Forget About Ceiling Height
For an indoor golf simulator, ceiling height is just as important as floor space.
Golfers need enough clearance to make a full swing safely, especially with a driver. Our inflatable itself requires approximately 10 feet of height, so low ceilings, hanging lights, basketball equipment, ceiling fans and other overhead obstacles all need to be considered.
A room can look huge and still not work if there isn’t enough vertical clearance.
That’s why we recommend checking width, depth and height before assuming an indoor space will work.
How Much Space Does the Mobile Golf Trailer Need?
Our Mobile Golf Trailer requires an operating footprint of approximately 22 feet long by 16 feet wide once it’s opened for play.

But there’s another important consideration:
We have to be able to get the trailer there.
The final setup area may have enough room, but we also need a practical route to tow and position the trailer.
That means considering things like:
- Gates and entrances
- Parking lots
- Curbs
- Tight turns
- Low-hanging trees
- Overhead obstructions
- Soft or uneven ground
- Other vendors, tents or equipment
This is one of the biggest differences between choosing the trailer and the inflatable.
The inflatable can be carried into many locations. The trailer obviously can’t.
Does the Ground Need to Be Level?
Yes — a reasonably flat, stable setup area is important.
For the trailer, we need enough room to safely position and level the unit.
For the inflatable, a flat area also makes the experience safer and more comfortable for guests.
Grass, pavement, concrete and indoor flooring can all potentially work depending on the setup and event.
If you’re looking at a sloped backyard, uneven field or unusual event space, don’t automatically rule it out. Send us some photos and we can usually get a pretty good idea of whether the location will work.
Can You Set Up a Golf Simulator Indoors?
Absolutely — and this is where the Inflatable Golf Simulator really shines.

Indoor venues can be great for mobile golf because you don’t have to worry about rain, wind or changing weather conditions.
We’ve found the inflatable can be a particularly good fit for:
- School gyms
- Corporate event spaces
- Breweries and taprooms
- Warehouses
- Large meeting spaces
- Indoor festivals
- Private event venues
The biggest things we need to verify are the room dimensions, ceiling clearance and a safe area around the simulator.
For most indoor events, the inflatable will be the first Greenies option we’d consider.
Can You Set Up a Golf Simulator Outside?
Yes. Both Greenies experiences can be used outdoors, although the Mobile Golf Trailer is generally our preferred outdoor setup when the venue allows it.
The trailer provides more protection from the elements and creates a large visual presence at an event.
The inflatable can also work outdoors, but weather and environmental conditions become more important.
If you’re planning an outdoor event, we recommend considering not only the footprint of the simulator but also the surrounding area for guests.
How Much Extra Space Should I Leave for Guests?
This is something that’s easy to overlook.
The simulator may technically fit in a space, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best place to put it.
At an event, people tend to gather around the simulator.
They watch other people hit. They talk trash. They check the leaderboard. And we’ve seen plenty of people who had no intention of golfing suddenly decide they want a turn after watching everyone else.
So when possible, we like having additional space around the simulator for:
Spectators + waiting players + normal event traffic.
For a corporate event or festival, that can be just as important as the dimensions of the simulator itself.
You don’t want the hitting area positioned directly in a major walkway, next to a buffet line or somewhere guests have to squeeze past it all night.
What If I’m Not Sure My Venue Has Enough Room?
This is probably the easiest part.
Send us a picture.
We do this all the time.
If you send Greenies a few photos of the proposed location along with approximate dimensions, we can usually tell pretty quickly whether the trailer or inflatable makes more sense.
For unusual spaces, we’ll ask additional questions before the event.
You don’t need to be an event-space expert or figure everything out yourself before contacting us.
Trailer or Inflatable for a Small Space?
If space or venue access is your biggest limitation, the Inflatable Golf Simulator is usually the better option.

Its approximately 12′ × 16′ footprint gives us considerably more flexibility, and unlike the trailer, we don’t need a towing route into the final setup location.
If you have a larger outdoor area with good vehicle access, the Mobile Golf Trailer becomes a great option — especially if you’re looking for maximum visibility and event presence.
We break this decision down much further in our Golf Simulator Trailer vs. Inflatable Golf Simulator comparison.
What Else Does a Mobile Golf Simulator Need?
Space is the biggest question, but it’s not the only thing we consider.
Before an event, we’ll also look at:
Access. Can we physically get the equipment to the setup area?
Surface. Is the area reasonably flat and stable?
Overhead clearance. Are there ceilings, trees, lights or other obstacles that could interfere?
Weather. Is the event outdoors, and what’s the backup plan if conditions change?
Guest flow. Is there enough room for people to safely play, watch and move around the event?
This is one reason we ask questions about your venue before showing up.
A good simulator setup isn’t just about making the equipment fit. It’s about putting it somewhere that actually works well during the event.
